Oakland Police Plead for Public’s Help to Solve Four-Year-Old Fatal Shooting Cold Case

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland Police Department is making a renewed appeal to the public for information regarding the nearly four-year-old unsolved murder of Bert Brigham III. The 24-year-old was gunned down on July 18, 2021, and investigators are hopeful that fresh leads from the community will help bring his killer, or killers, to justice.

The fatal shooting occurred in the 1900 block of Foothill Boulevard. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and discovered Brigham suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Years later, the case remains cold, and the pain for Brigham’s family endures. In a city that has grappled with gun violence, the Oakland Police Department is determined to resolve this case and provide some measure of closure to his loved ones.

Investigators have previously released images of four male suspects, all believed to be in their 20s, who may be connected to the shooting. Additionally, police have identified three vehicles of interest: a white Kia Optima, a blue Toyota Camry, and a dark-colored Honda Accord. Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen these individuals or vehicles in the area around the time of the shooting to come forward.

“No detail is too small,” said a department spokesperson. “Sometimes, a seemingly insignificant piece of information can be the key that unlocks a case. We implore anyone who knows anything to speak up.”
