Two Drivers Killed in Fiery Rollover Crash During Morning Commute in Northeast Kent County

COURTLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A horrific two-vehicle crash at a rural intersection in northeast Kent County claimed the lives of both drivers during the Tuesday morning commute, according to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office.

The fatal incident occurred at approximately 8 a.m. on June 24, 2025, at the intersection of 13 Mile Road NE and Courtland Drive NE in Courtland Township. Deputies arriving at the scene discovered a devastating scene where one vehicle had rolled over and caught fire.

According to investigators, one of the drivers was trapped within the burning vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle was extricated and rushed to a local hospital with critical injuries but later succumbed to them. Both drivers were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles.

The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The force of the collision left debris scattered across the intersection, which was closed for several hours as the Kent County Sheriff’s Office accident reconstruction team conducted their investigation. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet released details on the sequence of events that led to the tragedy.

The Courtland Township Fire Department and Rockford Ambulance also responded to the scene to extinguish the blaze and provide medical assistance.
