Helicopter Responds to Major Crash, I-75 Shut Down in Campbell County

ELK VALLEY, Tenn. – A severe vehicular crash prompted the full closure of Interstate 75 in both directions in Campbell County on Tuesday afternoon, the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has confirmed. A Lifestar medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene, indicating the serious nature of the incident.

The crash occurred around 12:15 p.m. EDT on the southbound side of I-75 near mile marker 151, just a few miles south of the Tennessee-Kentucky state line. According to initial reports, at least one vehicle was involved in the collision.

Emergency services, including the Tennessee Highway Patrol, were on site to manage the situation. TDOT officials reported that the interstate was closed to allow the Lifestar helicopter to land and to provide a safe area for first responders to work.
