Man killed in crash near Harvard in 3rd traffic fatality in McHenry County since Monday

Harvard, McHenry County – A man was killed Tuesday morning in a single-vehicle rollover crash near Harvard, marking the third traffic fatality in McHenry County in less than 24 hours, a grim tally that has left the community reeling.

The fatal accident occurred around 6:57 a.m. in the 19700 block of Hebron Road. According to the Harvard Fire Protection District, first responders arrived to find a pickup truck overturned in a field. The driver, an adult male who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash. Details surrounding the events leading up to the truck leaving the roadway have not yet been made public.

This incident is the latest in a tragic series of events on McHenry County roads. On Monday evening, an 11-year-old child was killed in a two-vehicle collision near Marengo at the intersection of Kishwaukee Valley Road and Deerpass Road. Authorities reported that a van disregarded a stop sign and collided with the SUV in which the child was a passenger.

Earlier on Monday, another man was killed in a separate crash near the intersection of Kishwaukee Valley Road and South Hughes Road. Details of that incident have not been fully released.

In addition to the three fatalities, a fourth serious, but non-fatal, crash also occurred on Monday, further underscoring a perilous period on the county’s roadways.
