Vey Sad, Motorcyclist dies in Naperville crash

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – A late-night motorcycle crash at a busy Naperville intersection claimed the life of a Woodridge man on Thursday, authorities have confirmed. The incident, which involved a high-speed collision with an SUV, is currently under investigation by the Naperville Police Department.

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 9:35 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2025, at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and Naper Boulevard. First responders arrived on the scene to find a devastating scene and immediately attempted life-saving measures on the motorcyclist.

The DuPage County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased as Dante Fields, 26, of Woodridge. Despite the efforts of police and fire personnel, Fields was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a preliminary investigation by the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit, Fields was operating a 2024 Suzuki motorcycle and traveling eastbound on Chicago Avenue at a “high rate of speed.” Investigators believe Fields entered the intersection at Naper Boulevard on a solid green light.

At the same time, a 2024 VinFast SUV, traveling westbound on Maple Avenue, was making a left turn to head southbound onto Naper Boulevard. The motorcycle struck the passenger side of the SUV. The driver of the SUV was not reported to have sustained any serious injuries.

The intersection was closed for several hours overnight as the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit and crash reconstruction specialists processed the scene, collecting evidence and documenting the circumstances of the collision. The mangled wreckage of the motorcycle and the damaged SUV were later towed from the intersection.

As of Friday morning, no charges have been filed in connection with the crash. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Authorities are appealing to the public for any witnesses who may have seen the crash or have any information that could assist in the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit at (630) 420-8833.
